HTTP-based Communications:
· A new scheme for performing HTTP operations is introduced with this release. It is intended to reduce crashes and stalls while performing HTTP operations and generally enable performance and reliability improvements in the future. In this release, it is being used by the viewer's texture retrieval code. Our expectation is that it will provide consistent and predictable downloading of textures.

Descent 2 to OpenGL. It is an open source project and has received a lot of enhancements compared to Descent 2.

My work on this project would not have been possible if hadn't been for the people who initially implemented the OpenGL and SDL code in D2X, so my thanks to them: It is for them that we can still play this great game on modern hardware.

My thanks also to the many people who have provided input for this project, be it in the form of bug reports, great ideas, logos, encouragement, or other.

As I still like Descent 2 pretty much, I was always looking for a way to get rid of the things that plagued me most in Descent 2. Getting hold of the D2X source files and being able to create a MS Visual C++ 6 project for D2X finally enabled me to fix these annoyances.

D2X is a very interesting and complex modification unlike any other.

This campaign covers Napoleon's 1809 campaign against Austria prior to the battles around Vienna.

Using a Napoleonic tactical game system, this game has both individual battles and a campaign game. It includes a Campaign and Scenario Editor that allow the user to create their own battles and campaigns.

What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]

· Change so that three rank units that exceed the Extended Line
· strength value in one hex have their fire value reduced.
· Change so that Pioneers can deploy entirely into Skirmishers.
· Added Withdrawal feature which results in units being withdrawn at
· a specified time with a specified probability.
· Added an Emplaced artillery unit "E" in Order of Battle which cannot
· limber but can change facing.
· Removed the confusing Activate AI toolbar button.
· Added option for Mouse Wheel Zoom.
· Added reinforcement variable arrival hex feature.
· Change so that Dragoons only get a 10% attack bonus, not 25% as heavy cavalry.
